About

Jonathan Mahood is a Canadian artist who’s work is rooted in the eastern shores of Georgian Bay. Through his daily hikes along the wind-carved rocks and pines, his photographs capture the seasonal interplay of natural shapes and changing textures. Using camera movement and multiple exposures, the photographs reveal a deeper rhythm of this ancient landscape and its waterways.

Jonathan Mahood lives in Parry Sound, Ontario. He received his BFA from York University in 1992, specializing in sculpture. His work was in carved wood and stone until a permanent hand injury in 2008 forced him to find a new medium. Eventually reconnecting with a love of photography, he found the camera allowed him to carry on exploring the themes of his sculpture work in new exciting directions.
